On January 4, 2025, ARC for Nepal proudly hosted its bi-annual Blood Drive in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Despite the winter chill, an impressive 31 individuals came together with a shared mission: to save lives. While some were unable to donate due to eligibility requirements, their dedication and effort to support the cause showcased our community's incredible compassion and solidarity.

This blood drive not only underscored the generosity of those who participated but also reflected the unity and strength that make our community extraordinary. Together, we proved that even small acts can create a profound impact.

In a heartwarming gesture during the blood drive, Fair Lawn’s Mayor Gail Friedberg Rottenstrich, braved the cold to join us in honoring a special donor, Mr. Sanjeev Shrestha. Mr. Sanjeev Shrestha has been donating blood for more 30 than years. On this day, Mayor Rottenstrich presented a special recognition letter declaring January 4th, 2025, as “Mr. Sanjeev Shrestha Day” in honor of Mr. Shrestha’s extraordinary achievement of donating blood more than 60 times—a milestone that exemplifies selflessness and dedication to the well-being of others. This was a proud moment for Mr. Shrestha, as well as the entire New Jersey Nepali Community.

The success of the blood drive was made possible by the efforts of volunteers from the Fair Lawn Indian Community and the North Jersey Nepali Community. A special mention goes to Charul Ranganathan, manager of M&T Bank’s Wyckoff branch, NJ, for helping in the volunteer efforts. The commitment of Charul as well as the large number of local middle and high school volunteers that came together made this event smooth experience for our donors.

Catering for the event was generously provided by Spice House, which served traditional Nepali snacks, Samosa and Pakoda, and a comforting Nepali drink, Chai, adding much needed warmth and nourishment to the day.

To all the donors, volunteers, and organizers who contributed their time and effort, ARC for Nepal extends its deepest gratitude. Your actions reflect the strength of our community and the power of coming together for a shared purpose.

The event was held in collaboration with the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary Club, Greater Jersey Nepali Samaj, New Jersey Nepali Samaj, and the NRN NJ chapter, as an initiative to bring together members of the local community.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate the success of this blood drive, it is important to continue the gift of giving. As such, we have scheduled our next Blood Drive for Saturday, September 6th, 2025. Mark your calendars and join us in continuing this vital initiative. Together, we can save lives and make a difference, one donation at a time.
